Subteam Descriptions
- The Wet Lab and Dry Lab subteams make up 50% of our final project. These ****subteams work together in the lab to design and experiment on various ideas that could be used in the biosensor, and both subteams will have to be familiar with each other’s work to be successful. Wet Lab focuses on the biorecognition element and characterizing it well for reliable detection of the target analyte. The Dry Lab subteam focuses on the prototyping, data analysis, fabrication, material design, app design, and other technical aspects of the biosensor. Dry Lab will utilize Wet Lab’s results and incorporate it into a physical prototype as the end result. The design should be user-centric and able to recognize the analyte within a given medium in a timely manner, and have the potential to be used in a real-world setting.
- The Business & Outreach subteam makes up the other 50% of our final project. They are responsible for market research, financial analysis, and interviews to build a business model and compelling proposal, as well as securing funding through company sponsorships, external grants, and Cornell University’s club funding. They also manage the team bank account and approve purchases. Furthermore, this subteam manages social media and the website, as well as promotional materials (posters, quarter cards, etc) and campaigns for fundraising on campus.
